Resynthesis
Resynthesis is analyzing an existing sound and rebuilding it as a wavetable, converting spans of the source into single-cycle frames rather than playing back samples.
A typical analysis tracks amplitude and phase per partial over time and encodes each short span of the source as a frame, so the source's timbral evolution becomes position motion you can edit, stretch, or exaggerate. Because the result is a real wavetable it can be swept, morphed, and exported like any hand-drawn table, at the cost of the exact time detail that pure sampling preserves.
