A node graph, not another draw canvas
How Hyperwave works: you build the table as a node graph rather than drawing it frame by frame or converting existing material. It runs in the browser for free with no account — nothing to install, nothing to license before the first table.
That shape suits sound designers who think in processes — chain operations, hear the result, keep iterating — rather than in pictures of waveforms.
Inspect while you build
Generation comes with inspection: waveform, spectrum, harmonic, and phase views on every frame while you edit. Spectrum and harmonics are first-class because most wavetable design decisions are spectral decisions.
Phase earns its place too: two tables with identical spectra but different phase relationships sound and morph differently, and you cannot fix what you cannot see.
Resolution headroom and batch export
The live table runs from 8 to 8,192 samples per frame and 8 to 1,024 frames; collection exports widen that to 16–16,384 samples × 1–256 frames and bundle the WAVs into a zip, so compact fixed layouts stay reachable.
Batch export exists for the boring, real work: variations, alternates, and library-sized sets in one pass instead of one table at a time.
What loads where — and what needs a vendor tool
Every export is a packed mono WAV — IEEE float by default, the layout Serum, Vital, and Surge XT load directly, or 16-bit for the hardware banks that want it. Import guides for each destination live in the wavetables-for reference.
The caveats, stated plainly: no extra metadata chunks are written, so synths that read frame size from metadata fall back to their default frame size; and a few hardware formats Hyperwave cannot write — raw 8-bit files, SysEx packages — still go through the vendor's tools.
